I meant to share this recipe with you guys ages ago. I found it on Pinterest when the boys were poorly recently. With high temperatures they were off their food. This smoothie was a healthy way of getting them eating.
Ingredients:
1 cup quartered strawberries
1 sliced banana
1/4 cup raw almonds
1/2 cup of oats
1 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt
1 teaspoon of honey
Then stick all in a blender...
And blend like your life depends upon it...
Simple as.
Then drink, like your life depends upon it!
Enjoy...

I always forget to try oats in my smoothies! Sounds yummy!
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious!
ReplyDeleteI am definitely pinning this - I love a good smoothie! My guy has been sick this week and I tried to get one into him (had some spinach snuck in there which I find is very easy to "cover up" with enough fruit) but he still didnt want it. I like that this has honey and oats in there for extra goodness when they aren't eating much else...
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! Hope you enjoy it x
ReplyDeleteThat does look good! I am going to try this... once I can get myself to go grocery shopping :)
ReplyDeleteyay hope you like it!
DeleteYum! (and pretty pictures too!)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteHow many calories are in this?!?!
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious by the way!
I honestly have no idea but I imagine not much as the yogurt was a low fat and the rest is just oats, fruit, nuts and honey :)
DeleteJust checked the yogurt and a quarter of a tub was 64 calories, no idea about the rest :)
DeleteWhat kind of oats are used? Steel cut or instant?
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of oats are used? Steel cut or instant?
ReplyDeleteIt was a while ago now but I believe they were rolled oats :)
DeleteHi, Sian. I was just wondering if you make too much to drink in one serving, can this be kept in the fridge until you're ready to drink it?
ReplyDeleteyes although the banana goes a bit brown so I usually don't unless I make one without bananas :)
DeleteBananas go well with so many things, thank you for the great share :)
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
DeleteOh my gosh. This really looks good and healthy also., Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThis is a super yum breakfast drink for me and I use Greek vanilla honey yougurt. love the texture of the oats and almonds.=)
ReplyDeleteWish calories would be posted for things
ReplyDeleteIke this.
oh yes I have no idea how to calculate the calories. I guess it depends on the type of yogurt used. With it being natural yogurt and honey and rest being fruit and oats the calories cant be too high :)
DeleteHow many servings does this make?
ReplyDeletethanks,
Robbie
It serves two :)
DeleteI just tried this using greek yogurt and a little bit of unsweetened almond milk; I like it very much! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYay that sounds great. I might try it with almond milk too :)
Deletehello I added a scoop of protein to mine and a little bit of almond milk...
DeleteMade this am...my yogurt had froze, so I had to add almond milk to get it to go, but plugged into my calorie counter, and got 356 calories per serving. If you delete the added almond milk, then delete 40 calories per serving. Yummy and filling! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDelicious! I run out of strawberries so I end up using red raspberries.
ReplyDeleteWhat type of oats are talking? lol
