North Wales

Brace yourselves, it's a long one.
At the beginning of the Easter break, we spent some time in a place called Anglesea in North Wales with family. We had such a good time, despite the rain (have I mentioned the rain lately...?) and despite Isaac getting really ill with a nasty virus. We stayed in this lovely old cottage that used to be a hotel...
The journey to this lovely cottage was long and Isaac threw up three times. And we aren't talking about anything less than the dramatic projectile variety. So feeling groggy and quite frankly stinky from sick we let Isaac rest with Nana and Grampy while we took Lucas down the 3 min walk to the beach. Is that sick on the back of my neck...? Oh that's better...
We certainly made the most of the moment of sun because it was to be the only one...
In fact me and Hubby realised it's a rare occurrence that it's just us and Lucas. We spent time with just Isaac all the time before Lucas was born obviously, but it wasn't possible very often afterwards for either boys.  And quite frankly Lucas was loving every minute of this undivided attention by both parents...
*rolls eyes* Hubby is such a map geek...
Everywhere we go, he absolutely MUST buy a geographical survey map and analyse it for awesome walks we could do. Honestly I can't think of anything more boring. (Not the walks, the map analysis.) But he likes it, it makes him happy.  And since he puts up with the snail pace I take on walks because of my NEED to photograph everything within a 2 mile radius of me, it's only fair. In sickness and in health huh?
Speaking of photographing everything...

We got ever so slightly lost in the woods on the way back. Three words, no wait, four: Stupid Geographical Survey Map. Don't worry though, with my snail pace, I got some good shots in while Hubby battled our way back to the right path...

We made it back eventually...
On one of the days Isaac was well enough to go visit Beaumaris castle. He is all about castles now.
It was a great castle although I'm not so sure about the activities they suggested while you tour it's majestic grounds...
I read these as follows:
  • Free child with every tour, just help yourself.
  • Stub your toes while doing high side kicks.
  • Throw yourself down the steps (again try to work in some side high kicks).
  • Regurgitate where possible (to feed the birds).
Castles have been around a lot longer than me.
Surely they know best right?
We explored every nook and cranny...
Even the spooky dark passages...
I concentrated hard on the next suggested activity. I took it to mean:
  • While enjoying the spectacular castle views try to solve some long multiplication/division problems in your head...

It made my head hurt. Meanwhile the boys dueled and hunted for dragons...

There may have been no dragons that day, but the castle was heavily guarded by birds...
They took their job seriously.
In fact they wouldn't let us leave until we provided proof of our gift shop purchases....
Even with cloudy skies we had to enjoy the beach too. It was way too pebbly to make proper sandcastles  but that didn't stop us from trying...
I reeaaaaaly love how much they are playing together these days. It makes such a change from the constant wrestling, then squishing, then crying that used to occur. It seems like they are becoming buddies. It makes me feel all warm and happy inside...
Although Isaac didn't have his usual energy on this particular day. Lucas had enough for everyone...
So I really like Wales. It always surprises us with his beautiful scenery (even in the rain). So naturally I took photos in the car on the way home to give you a taste of it's surroundings. Hubby naturally rolled his eyes alot. How can you not love Wales? With it's sweeping views...
 Lots of sheep...

 History all around...

 Hills and mountains...
Also I'm starting to suspect I have a thing for clouds...
I can't resist the moody looking ones...
 *Sigh* Until next time Wales.

  1. I went to Wales with my family when I was 10, and I don't really remember any of it. Seeing these pictures really makes me wish I did remember it!

  3. Glad you're back Sian! Makes me miss old Blighty. You can't see a good castle over here! We used to visit Barmouth in Wales when I was little - huuuge beach and rock pools if I remember correctly, and of course, great fish and chips! There was also a place with a little miniature village that I adored - Portmeirion. Loved it! Thanks for sharing your pics :)
Hope Isaac is feeling better xo
