Road trip to Woolacombe

We decided at the last minute to go to Woolacombe. I have family that live near there now. We used to go there all the time to stay in the family holiday cottage. We loved it and went so frequently that we even got married there. However after having children we haven't been much, mainly I think because of the long journey and small size of the cottage. But after the success of the road trip to Switzerland, this was child's play compared...
And I have officially decided that I love a good road trip with my family and think we should do it more. I love the planning of it. I love the new map tradition so the children can track our progress (it really stops the whole are we nearly there yet nightmare) and making the 'fun bags' complete with colouring book, a snack and a Looney Toones/Tom and Jerry DVD for the near end of the journey...
And there are ways to occupy yourself when the fun bags are empty...

I love taking pictures along the way of the scenery...
I mean I literally sit with my phone and my camera on my lap the whole way looking. Always looking for the next beautiful shot. It makes me happy and in this way I feel like I'm taking you guys with me. Which lets be honest would be a a bit of a squeeze in our car in actuality. I love watching the different weather roll in and out...

While clearly playing with my camera settings...
I love cloud watching...

I love seeing different sights. Especially after the cabin fever of the last couple of months...

I love watching the sun go down knowing we are tantalizingly close to our destination...
I love watching the world fly by...
And I really love the feeling of elation when you finally reach your desired destination...

This trip has fueled my love of all these things. And to think we nearly didn't go. What a mistake that would have been!More to come...
