Surviving the summer with children? More like living it up...

This is how we survived the summer holidays. Each week we planned out what were were going to do and mostly we stuck to it.
It worked so well I think I'm going to carry it on. And my favorite at home activity of the whole summer was by far Art day. And true to form I took a million photos knowing I was going to share this day with you...
We literally set up Art activity stations all over the house. Um can you tell I used to be a primary school teacher?
We even painted rocks, because you know, why not?

It got pretty messy!
In fact does anyone else think that Lucas is trying to audition for some gory Quentin Tarantino movie...

And seriously people how can I stop them eating the damn play doh?

I even let them use my pastels...

Water colours on the floor. Hmm best idea I ever had?...

Cutting and sticking...

The art stuff eventually spilled out into the garden...

There is so much more I want to show you because I've REALLY enjoyed this summer. And don't get me wrong here. There has been massive kiddy tantrums, grumpiness, mess (God so much mess), stressing, there has been loosing house keys after a 2 hours of driving (could have killed Tim for this one) etc etc etc The point isn't that we are perfect (wait what?!) but that we focused on the good stuff and ditched the rest...

Day trips out...

Working on the house...

Taking a dip in our very own deluxe swimming pool...

Getting lost in a pathetic excuse for a maze...

Keeping the mind active with a little chess
(or in Lucas style a little game of knock everything down so no one can play)...

It's been a good one...

We didn't survive the summer, we rocked it!
